14”x5” Broadleaf Maple Decor Bowl

This piece has been one of the most challenging to date.

We were not sure we could even turn this bowl, but after a careful study the piece, filling two separate large voids with turquois epoxy, and then removing the entire core which had gone punky it was ready to turn, the result speaks for itself.

Most bowls we turn take less than a week from start to finish, this bowl took 3 months.

A compelling example of Canadian Pacific Northwest hardwoods this unique Broadleaf maple bowl is truly one-of-a-kind, highly artistic and a true testament to the durability of our local hardwoods.

Made from hand harvested Broadleaf Maple from our own property just east of Hope, BC this bowl is unique in its design and material, and finished by sanding to 320 grit, adding 4 coats of Tung oil and finally hand polished.

Most bowls produced by Whiskeyjack are made using the “Once-Turned” method so the bowl will slowly change shape over time making it truly unique. Any small fissures or cracks in this piece have been restored and the piece finished in Tung oil or other food safe finishes. Any large fissures or cracks have been restored using epoxy.
