This 8” x 6” Broadleaf Maple bowl features a unique hand applied finish. In total over 12 coats of wood stain were applied and then 90% sanded away. This was done 4 separate times to create a base color for the finish, then 4 coats of wood stain to lock in the final color and finally 6 coats of semi gloss lacquer was applied.
Most bowls produced by Whiskeyjack are made using the “Once-Turned” method so the bowl will slowly change shape over time making it truly unique. Any small fissures or cracks in this piece have been restored and the piece finished in Tung oil or other food safe finishes. Any large fissures or cracks have been restored using epoxy.
